Pet Memorial Garden

Pet Memorial at the Peace Garden
Purpose
The pet memorial garden is a garden for the remembrance of our beloved pets. It provides a permanent resting place for the pets who live on in our memories and in our hearts. It is a place to give thanks to God for the companionship of beloved animals and to commit ourselves to care for all of God’s creatures.
Bricks
Engraved bricks are arranged in the garden around the cross. Engraved bricks are available for purchase as a permanent way to remember your pet. Bricks are a $125 each. The fee covers, the brick, installation of the brick, maintenance of the garden, and a donation to PAWS Humane Society of Columbus, Georgia.
Burial of Ashes
After more landscaping work is done, there will be a place for burial of ashes. Only ashes may be buried. The ashes are to be buried in the earth under the mulch. The mulch should be replaced in a manner that the mulch appears not to have been disturbed. The family may come at any time and place their pet’s ashes in the garden. There is a Liturgy for the Burial of a Pet available in the garden. You may choose to bury ashes without purchasing a brick.
The burial area is for ashes only, no physical remains shall be buried. Ashes are not to be placed in other areas of the church grounds, including above or beneath memorial bricks. No artificial flowers, cremains, containers or other items may be placed in the garden.
Restrictions
This placement of the ashes is a private time of remembrance. There is no fee for burying your pet’s ashes, however, donations are welcome for the upkeep of the garden. Please bring your own tools for the burial and remember to take your container with you after the ashes are buried.
