About St. Thomas Episcopal Church
St. Thomas is a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta and a member of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Together with Episcopalians around the globe, we seek to follow Jesus through worship, service, compassion, and hope.
Who We Are
At St. Thomas, our life together is shaped by our mission to Love God, Love Every Person, and Learn & Serve Together.
We welcome.
We believe every person is created in the image of God and is worthy of dignity, respect, and love. We seek, welcome, and value people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, races, and life experiences.
We worship.
We believe beautiful worship shapes beautiful lives. Through Scripture, prayer, music, the sacraments, and the liturgy, we encounter the risen Christ and are transformed to participate in God’s reign. As we are drawn closer to God, we are inspired to create a more beautiful world in God’s image.
We learn.
Faith is a lifelong journey. Grounded in Scripture and the Episcopal tradition, we learn together with open hearts and curious minds, trusting that God continues to teach and transform us.
We nurture.
We celebrate children and youth as full members of our church family, encouraging them to grow in faith, ask questions, serve others, and participate in worship.
We cultivate.
We believe faith grows throughout a lifetime. Through intentional opportunities for adult formation, we encourage curiosity, welcome thoughtful questions, engage Scripture and tradition, and continue growing together.
We serve.
We believe our faith is lived beyond the walls of the church. Inspired by Christ’s example, we serve our neighbors, seek justice, care for God’s creation, and participate in God’s work of healing and reconciliation.
We belong.
St. Thomas is an intergenerational community where friendships grow across ages and backgrounds. Together we celebrate life’s joys, walk with one another through its challenges, and invite everyone to discover and share their God-given gifts.
We embrace today.
The world is changing, but God’s love remains constant. Rooted in the Episcopal tradition and open to where the Holy Spirit is leading, we strive to be a church for today’s world. We believe the Church should be a place of hope, where questions are welcomed, worship inspires transformation, every person belongs, and together we join in God’s work of healing and renewal.
What We Believe
As part of the Episcopal Church, our faith is rooted in three complementary sources:
Scripture is the foundation of our faith, revealing God’s love through the story of salvation and ultimately through Jesus Christ.
Tradition connects us with the wisdom of Christians throughout the centuries and grounds us in the historic faith of the Church.
Reason is God’s gift that allows us to ask questions, seek understanding, and faithfully discern how to live the Gospel in today’s world.
Together, Scripture, Tradition, and Reason shape our worship, our beliefs, and our life together.
Our History
Since our founding in 1958, St. Thomas has grown from a small group of faithful Episcopalians gathering in homes and borrowed spaces into a vibrant parish rooted in worship, learning, service, and hospitality. While our campus has grown and our ministries have expanded over the decades, our mission has remained the same: to know Christ and make Christ known.
From our longstanding commitment to beautiful worship and music, to serving our neighbors, nurturing children and families, and welcoming all people, each generation has helped shape the story of St. Thomas. We celebrate our past with gratitude and look to the future with hope, trusting that God continues to lead us into new adventures of faith.
