Groups
Church is about more than Sunday mornings—it’s about building relationships that encourage us in faith and in life. Throughout the year, St. Thomas offers a variety of opportunities to connect through shared meals, book discussions, social gatherings, excursions, affinity groups, and special events. Whether you’re looking to make new friends, explore the community, or simply enjoy spending time with others, there’s a place for you here.
Excursions
St. Thomas Excursions are typically monthly opportunities for St. Thomas parishioners and friends to attend cultural, educational, and engaging events in the community together. These are announced in our newsletters and bulletins. If you have an idea for an excursion, let us know! Recent Excursions include Springer Opera House Tour, Tour of the Kia Plant in West Point, Columbus Native Plant Tour, Chattahoochee Valley Public Library Main Library Tour, Empty Bowl Luncheon, Clingstones Baseball Game, behind the scenes at Goodwill, and more!
Parish Groups
The most important ways St. Thomas parishioners connect with one another are through worshiping God, learning about our faith and the Christian life, and serving our neighbors. Here are additional ways to gather with other parishioners and get to know this community.
Book Readers Group
The St. Thomas Book Discussion Group welcomes everyone to join in lively discussions of books that range from novels to biographies, theological explorations, and classics, both fiction and non-fiction. We explore the moral, spiritual, and ethical dilemmas in which humans find themselves, as depicted in the literature of today, as well as the literature of the past.
This group typically meets on the first Friday of each month at 11 am. An informal group, everyone is welcome. Come and bring your friends.
Foyers Groups
These are gatherings of 8 to 12 adults who meet together in homes or in the community approximately once a month from September to May. This is not a Bible Study group, but rather a community connection group. Foyers groups share a meal and conversation. A Foyers Finale takes place at the end of each season and new Foyers groups start again the following fall.
LGBTQ+ Group
LGBTQ+ Group. New in 2026! Jonathan Walz has offered to convene this group for St. Thomas LGBTQ+ folks who would like to gather.
Lunch Bunch
Second Tuesdays, 11:30, Parker’s Pantry
All women are invited to gather for lunch on the second Tuesday of each month at Parker’s Pantry at 11:30. After each person orders in the line, we will gather in the private dining room. Hope to see you there!
Men’s Group
Men in the congregation gather occasionally for fellowship and connection. They help with special projects and occasionally plan and organize a retreat.
Recovery Groups
NA meets in our Outreach Center on Tuesdays from 7-8 pm and on Saturdays from 7:30-9pm.
AA meets in our Outreach Center on Sunday and Thursday evenings. These AA meetings are closed groups. For contact information for group leaders, please contact the church office.
Saints & Sinners
First Thursdays of most months at 11:00 in the Parish Hall
On the first Thursday of most months many of our senior members of the parish and friends gather. Join Saints & Sinners for a brief Eucharist, fellowship, and potluck lunch. Bring a dish to share! Everyone is welcome to join! This is a great way for new members to interact with some of our long-time members.
Women’s Dinner Group
Gather with women from St. Thomas for fellowship and food. This group meets once a month for dinner at a local restaurant. All who identify as women are welcome to gather.
YACT
Young Adults Connecting Together (YACT) is a fellowship group meant to foster fun and friendship for young adults ages 21-40 (ish). We gather for monthly socials to build friendships and get to know all Columbus has to offer.
