A new journey begins February 16, using Manna and Mercy, a summary of the Bible by Daniel Erlander. In addition to providing an overview of the entire Bible, this resource also helps us interpret the Bible as “a brief history of God’s unfolding promise to mend the entire universe.” If you need help putting the puzzle of the Bible together in new ways, and if you want to connect with others who are on the same journey, this is for you!
Each week small groups will discuss a reading from the book and a short video by South African pastor Alan Storey, a leader in anti-apartheid, racial healing and peace-making efforts. Groups will be held on Zoom and onsite at St. Thomas inside and outside (weather permitting). There is also the option to participate as an "Individual Adventurer." This option offers you the opportunity to interact with the materials as those in groups but to do so on your own.
The publishers of Manna and Mercy also have resources for preschoolers and children.
Here is a link to 4 board books for preschoolers: See You Tomorrow, God with Us, Looking for Jesus, and Partner People. Use these colorful and inviting board books to share the images and words of Daniel Erlander with young children!
And here is a link to Manna and Mercy: An Interactive Edition for Kids. This resource includes content from the original Manna and Mercy plus additional pages of interactive content that kids will love. Draw, doodle, jot, brainstorm, write, and wonder about the Bible and the story it tells on these interactive pages.
